Rebel golfers compete in Golden Classic in Manchester

The Franklin County High School boys and girls golf teams competed in the Sundrop Golden Classic Wednesday at the WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester.

The Franklin County boys finished fifth out of seven teams in the event with a combined score of 361 for the 18-hole tournament.

The Cookeville Cavaliers took the top spot in the boys team rankings with a score of 308, followed by The Webb School at 310, Coffee County at 317 and Tullahoma at 338.

Chase Towry led the Rebels in scoring for the day as his mark of 81 put him in a tie for 12th place out of 48 individual boys golfers for the tournament.

Jackson Lynch finished tied for 19th in the boys standings with a score of 87, and Evan Lynch carded a score of 93 to place 27th for the day.

Brady Hall ended the round with a score of 100 to provide the final contribution to the Rebels’ team score, and Easton Walker completed the course in 109 strokes.

On the girls side, the Rebelettes finished fifth out of six teams with their total score of 206 putting them just a single stroke behind Coffee County in the tournament.

The top three teams in the girls standings and their scores for the day included The Webb School at 140, Lincoln County at 169 and Cascade at 170.

Amelia Maxon was the top scorer for the Rebelettes as she finished the course with a score of 93 to finish ninth out of 18 girls golfers at the event.

Savanna Pendergraff followed with a score of 113 to place 16th in the girls individual standings and to round out the overall scoring for the Rebelettes.

The FCHS boys and girls golf teams will next compete Tuesday in a nine-hole match at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford against the teams of Coffee County and Lincoln County. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
