Stolen-vehicle suspect caught in Marion County

A 39-year-old man linked to a string of thefts and burglaries in Franklin County was taken into custody on Monday after being involved in a vehicle chase into Marion County, according to Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Reports identified the suspect as Bryan Ray Phillips whose last given address was in Tullahoma.

Reports said Phillips was driving a suspected stolen vehicle and exited Interstate 24 at Kimball and crashed into a tree.

Phillips then allegedly fled from the crash scene on foot, reports said.

The Kimball Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol and Franklin County deputies set a perimeter around the area.

The Highway Patrol provided a helicopter to assist in the search which was later called off, reports said.

The Franklin County deputies returned home, and Phillips was later found by officers from the Kimball Police Department and taken into custody, reports said.

Phillips was charged in Marion County with felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, burglary, vandalism, driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest, reports said.

When he is released from Marion County, he will face charges in Franklin County, including theft of a motor vehicle, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, three counts of aggravated burglary, felony evading arrest, burglary, theft of property and two counts of vandalism, according to reports.
