Join in for Trails & Trilliums outdoor fun this weekend

The Friends of South Cumberland State Parks welcome everyone to their exciting outdoor adventures during Trails & Trilliums set for Saturday and Sunday at the Beersheba Springs Assembly, 58 Hede Ave., Beersheba Springs.

Trails & Trilliums offers several free events throughout the weekend. There will be areas for children to create a fairy house, build forts and enjoy the hands-on wildlife area Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The area will include friendly snakes, turtles, possums, toads and more. Adults must accompany children at all times.

A native plant sale will be held both days starting at 10 a.m. with plants supplied by Overhill Gardens in Knoxville.

Vendors will also be set up throughout the weekend offering a variety of goods including worm castings, rock jewelry, outdoor sculptures, nature art, Crutchfield wildflower prints, baked goods and more.

The Tennessee Naturalist Program will offer information sessions presented by a panel of state TNP board members on Saturday from 3-3:45 p.m.

A non-denominational service will be held on Sunday from 8:30-9:15 a.m. with Rev. Giulianna Cappelletti Gray at Vesper Point in the outdoor chapel overlooking the valley that is just a short walk from Beersheba Springs Assembly.

In addition to all those events, registration is still open at TrailsAndTrilliums.org for Great Naturalist presentations on Saturday and Sunday. Cost is $15.

Register for the Wine and Wildflowers Celebration on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at The Big Red Barn, 208 Hunters Mill Road, Beersheba Springs. Enjoy beer, wine and barbecue as well as music by the band Sewanee Conglomerate followed by a bonfire featuring music, poetry and fun by the fire with Bran Potter and Tom Sanders. Cost is $35.

The full schedule of guided hikes, workshops, AV sessions and author talks can be found on the Trails & Trilliums website. No reservations are necessary for the native plant sale, vendor area or the children’s activities, which are all free.
