Rebelettes fall at Cleveland in regional quarterfinals

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Cleveland Lady Raiders 75-29 on the road Friday in a quarterfinal game for the Region 3-4A tournament.

The Rebelettes were outscored in every quarter as the Lady Raiders steadily pulled away to eliminate them from the bracket and bring an end to their season.

The Lady Raiders scored the first nine points of the game and opened the contest on a 16-3 run overall to quickly put the Rebelettes in a double-digit hole. Katie Walker scored six of Franklin County’s 10 points in the first quarter.

Franklin County trailed 23-10 after one quarter.

The Lady Raiders continued to pull away early with a 15-2 run at the start of the second quarter which brought the deficit up to more than 20 points. Madison King scored five of Franklin County’s seven points in the second quarter.

Franklin County trailed 44-17 at halftime.

The deficit grew to more than 40 points in the third quarter as the Rebelettes weren’t able to match the scoring pace set by Cleveland.

They trailed 67-25 going into the final period.

Both teams had their lowest-scoring periods of the day in the fourth quarter with a running clock being active as the Rebelettes lost by a final margin of 46 points.

King led the Rebelettes with 12 points for the game, followed by Katie Walker with nine points and Na’Kayjah Holman, Ann Abbott Devine and Danica Stovall with two points each.

Shayla Kennerly and Mikah Brannon scored one point each.

With the loss, the Rebelettes finished their season with a record of 11-18.
