Rebelettes fall to Coffee County in district semis

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Coffee County Lady Raiders 77-26 on the road Monday in a semifinal game for the District 6-4A tournament.

The Rebelettes fell into a massive hole in the first half against the top-seeded Lady Raiders, and they weren’t able to make up any ground after halftime.

The Lady Raiders scored the first 14 points of the contest to quickly create a double-digit advantage over Franklin County.

The Rebelettes trailed 17-4 after one quarter.

The Rebelettes were able to do more scoring in the second quarter, but the deficit against them continued to grow as it pushed past 30 points before the end of the half.

They trailed 47-13 at halftime.

A 3-pointer by Katie Walker to open the third quarter was followed by a run of 12 straight points by the Lady Raiders to bring the deficit up to more than 40 points.

Franklin County trailed 67-20 going into the final period.

The fourth quarter had the lowest point differential of the day, but the Rebelettes still weren’t able to make a dent in the deficit as they lost by 51.

Walker and Shayla Kennerly led the Rebelettes with six points each for the game, followed by Mikah Brannon with five points and Baylor Russell with four.

Na’Kayjah Holman and Jaelyn Ritchie scored two points each, and Madison King scored one point.

With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 10-17 on the season.

They will next play Friday against Shelbyville Central High School at Coffee County in the third-place game for the District 6-4A tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
