Rebelettes pull away late versus Shelbyville for district win

The Franklin County Rebelettes beat the Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes 40-30 at home Friday for their eighth win of the season.
The Rebelettes pulled away in the fourth quarter behind an offensive surge to start the period as they ended their regular-season district schedule on a high note with the victory.
Both teams got off to slow starts on offense with a 3-pointer from Katie Walker in the final seconds of the opening period giving the Rebelettes an early edge.
They led 7-4 after one quarter.
The Golden Eaglettes scored the first seven points of the second quarter, but the Rebelettes proceeded to go on a 7-1 run of their own to retake the lead.
Franklin County led 14-12 at halftime.
The score remained close throughout the third quarter with the Golden Eaglettes taking a slight lead late in the period.
Franklin County trailed 24-23 going into the final period.
The Rebelettes scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter to take control of the game as they maintained a steady advantage for the rest of the day and went on to win by 10.
Danica Stovall led the Rebelettes with nine points for the game, followed by Baylor Russell with eight points and Madison King, Walker and Shayla Kennerly with six points each.
Na’Kayjah Holman scored five points.
With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 8-16 on the season and 1-5 in district play.
They will next play Tuesday at home against Cascade High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
