Rebels pull away late versus Coffee County in district semis

The Franklin County Rebels beat the Coffee County Raiders 47-33 on the road Tuesday in a semifinal game for the District 6-4A tournament.
The Rebels led for a majority of the contest and pulled away in the fourth quarter to advance to the district championship game and secure their sixth win in seven games.
The Rebels got off to a hot start on offense as they hit five 3-pointers in the opening period to pace themselves to an early double-digit advantage.
They led 18-8 after one quarter.
The Rebels were limited to just four points in the second quarter, but they were able to still hold onto a small lead going into the halftime break.
They led 22-18 at the end of the first half.
The Raiders started the third quarter with a 9-2 run to take their lone lead of the day, but the Rebels answered back with seven straight points of their own to quickly retake the lead.
Franklin County led 33-29 going into the final period.
The Rebels scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to bring their advantage back up to double digits, and their lead wouldn’t be threatened again for the rest of the day as they went on to win by 14.
Ke’Andre Johnson and Kai Baker led the Rebels with 11 points each for the game, followed by Kaleb Rigsby with 10 points, Sam Vincent with eight and Kenyon Fuqua with seven.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 13-14 on the season.
They will next play Saturday against Warren County High School at Coffee County in the District 6-4A championship game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
