FC tennis ends year with district tourneys

Members of the Franklin County High School boys and girls tennis teams competed in the District 9AA individual tournaments on April 22 at the Shelbyville Recreation Center.
The top two finishers in each varsity bracket advanced to the Region 5AA tournaments with none of the Franklin County players reaching that qualifying mark.
William Orr entered the boys singles bracket as the No. 3 seed and beat Coffee County’s Colin Bryant in the first round by an 8-1 margin.
However, Orr would be eliminated in the quarterfinals as he lost to Lawrence County’s Haden Hanley by a score of 8-2.

In the girls doubles bracket, the team of Sadie Wells and Allie Glenn won their firstround match as they beat Columbia’s La’Daisha Murray and Azieanna Brown by a score of 8-6.
However, Wells and Allie Glenn then took an 8-4 loss to Tullahoma’s Wen Ni Lin and Addyson Orr to end their tournament run in the quarterfi nals.
The duo of Eden Kilgore and Mary Elizabeth Orr also got eliminated from the girls doubles bracket in the quarterfinals as they beat Coffee County’s Ily Allen and Carrington Saner by an 8-6 margin before taking a narrow 9-8 loss to Warren County’s Abigail Graves and Natalie Payne.
Teammates Audrey Glenn and Eshita Patel faced each other in the first round of the girls singles bracket with Glenn winning by an 8-0 margin.
However, Audrey Glenn got eliminated in the next round by Shelbyville’s Lilly Smith as the No. 2 seed gave her an 8-1 loss.
Levi Karl fell in the first round of the boys singles bracket as Tullahoma’s Fletcher Orr beat him by a score of 8-5.
Both of the boys doubles teams for Franklin County were eliminated in the first round as Colton Cox and Lane Blevins fell to Lawrence County’s Wyatt Gang and Jay Willis and Carter Reed and Tristin Cornett lost to Tullahoma’s Tyler Pham and Stijn Heekmann by respective scores of 8-4 and 8-0.
In the girls JV bracket, Kaylee Cox and Maya Perusse were eliminated in the first round as they took losses by respective scores of 6-0 and 7-6.
The District 9AA individual tournaments marked the end of the season for the FCHS boys and girls tennis teams.
