Sanders Foundation announces award recipients for 2022
10 entities to share $52,215
The gift of giving keeps on giving to local agencies through annual awards presented by the Estelle, Abe, and Marjorie Sanders Foundation of Winchester/Franklin County with more than $52,000 going to 10 nonprofit agencies and organizations in December 2022.
The organizations serving Franklin County residents are receiving a combined $52,215 total, according to Brenda Cannon, foundation chairperson. Awards were presented on Dec. 2 at the Franklin County Annex Building.
The Sanders Foundation Board of Trustees awards the yearly interest income from a $1 million bequest given by the Sanders family to the citizens of Winchester and Franklin County.
Cannon said the appropriations go toward worthwhile causes that benefit Franklin County residents.
“The Sanders Foundation is pleased to continue the wishes of Estelle, Abe and Marjorie Sanders by awarding financial support to organizations that impact the quality of life for residents in Franklin County,” she said. “The diversity of the receiving organizations validates the vast needs within our community.
“Each year there are more requests than (the Board) can accommodate. However, we recognize the importance and impact of all agencies and appreciate the work they do to enhance our community.”
