Smoke detectors available for Decherd residents

Inflation may have put some items to be purchased on the back burner, but one of them doesn’t have to be a smoke detector.

Alexandra Fontana, Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office community risk reduction coordinator, recently stopped by Decherd Fire Station No. 1 to hand-deliver 50 smoke alarms that were secured for Decherd residents by Capt. Kaleb Tyree.

As a result of Tyree’s efforts, the smoke alarms will be provided and installed free of charge for qualified residents who live within the Decherd Fire Department’s district.

Decherd firefighters have installed more than 500 free smoke alarms for their residents in recent years.

All eligible Decherd residents can contact the Fire Department at 931-315-9415 to see if they meet the criteria to have free smoke alarms installed in their homes.
