The Franklin County Rebels beat the Tullahoma Wildcats 9-7 at home Thursday for their fourth win of the season.

The Rebels rallied for a late lead with a seven-run fifth inning and held off an attempted rally from Tullahoma in the seventh inning to secure the victory.

The Wildcats were the first team on the board as they pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the first.

The Rebels got their first run of the day in the bottom of the second with Jacob Hardison hitting into an RBI groundout to score Brayden Henley from third.

The teams traded one run each in the third inning with the Rebels’ run for the bottom half of the frame coming on an RBI single by Henley to make it a 3-2 game.

However, the Wildcats tacked on another run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth to bring the deficit back up to two once again.

The Rebels loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the fifth when Gus Gardner walked, Henley got hit by a pitch and Gavin Sells hit a single, and Wyatt Lowe and Casen Gilliam then drew consecutive bases-loaded walks to tie the score at 4-4.

Sam Vincent drew yet another walk with the bases loaded a few batters later to give the Rebels their first lead of the day, and a two-run double by Austin Roberts and RBI singles by Payton Miller and Henley added to the advantage and made it a 9-4 game.

The Wildcats cut the lead down to two in the top of the seventh with the assistance of a bases-loaded walk and an error that scored two runs, but the Rebels got the last out they needed to close out the game as they won by two.

Gilliam pitched the first three innings for the Rebels with one strikeout, three hits, three earned runs and one unearned run allowed.

Miller got the win in relief after pitching the final four innings with two strikeouts, one hit, one earned run and two unearned runs allowed.

With the win, the Rebels improved to 4-3 on the season.

They will next play Saturday at home in a doubleheader against Clarksville Northwest High School. First pitch for the first game is scheduled for noon.
