Mother’s Day flower fundraiser
Hospice of the Highland Rim Foundation’s annual Mother’s Day flower drive is underway with a variety of beautiful arrangements for $20. Easter bunny at Farmers Market
The Easter Bunny will be at the Franklin County Farmers Market, 817 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester, on Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m. for parents to take free photos with their cellphones. Local farmers will also be there with various plants, meats and homemade and homegrown products for sale. The market opens for shoppers at 7 a.m.
Pet Wellness & Awareness Fair
A Pet Wellness and Awareness Fair will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Animal Harbor, 56 Nor-Nan Road, Winchester. Cost to spay and neuter is $20 and rabies shots are $5 (services not performed on site). Free canine and feline vaccines, free pet pantry food by need, free education and more will be offered. A fundraiser will be held at Pioneer Motorcycles, 962 AEDC Road, Winchester, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring door prizes, an auction, music, drinks and more with proceeds going toward medical expenses for Emily Carson.
Mountain Goat Trail Race

Road closure
Roadwork will begin Monday near the top of Sewanee Mountain between Running Knob Hollow Road and the Perimeter Trail continuing for up to 8-10 days, depending on weather conditions.

Kindergarten registration
Franklin County kindergarten registration will be held on April 13 from 1-5 p.m. at the school the child is zoned to attend during the 2023-24 school year. A child must reach age 5 by Aug. 15 to enroll for the fall. Bring a birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization record and physician’s physical report and proof of residency. Business Expo & Marketplace
The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce will host a Business Expo and Marketplace on April 13 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Monterey Station, located at 104 Monterey St. in Cowan. The public is invited. Fish fry
The Broadview Volunteer Fire Department will host a fundraiser fish fry on April 15 from 1-5 p.m. at the fire station, located at 5253 Lynchburg Road, Winchester. Plates include fish, fries, chicken, beans, slaw, hush puppies, dessert and drinks. Cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Children ages 5 and younger are free. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 for their 50/50 raffle drawing.
Night in Little Italy
The Decherd Knights of Columbus will host their famous Night in Little Italy spaghetti dinner on April 15 from 5-7 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Church Parish Center, 2037 Decherd Blvd., Decherd. The dinner will be served on china plates and will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, drinks and homemade desserts. Adult tickets are $10 and children younger than 12 are $5. All are welcome to eat in or take out.

F.C. Historical Society
The Franklin County Historical Society’s spring meeting will be held on April 16 at 2 p.m. at the Walker Farm, 1942 Greasy Cove Road, Huntland. The presentation will include a history of the house built in 1905 by John Rich and two VanZandt men from Salem who moved to Texas and became famous. This will be followed by the history of the cowboy and cowgirl in American, how Tennessee played a role in that and how a company in Franklin County still plays a vital role today. Ride for Rev
The second annual memorial Ride for Rev in remembrance of J.T. “Rev” Steele will be held on April 22 with registration from 9-10 a.m. at the VFW, located at 6200 AEDC Road, Estill Springs.
