FC tracksters compete in meet at Chattanooga Christian

The Franklin County High School boys and girls track and field teams competed in the FastBreak Invitational Saturday at Chattanooga Christian School and came away with 41 top-20 finishes.

Franklin County’s performances at the highly competitive meet included 21 top-10 finishes and nine placements inside of the top five with senior NaShawn Holman taking first place in two events.

In the team standings, the Franklin County girls finished seventh out of 25 teams with a group score of 42 for the day. The Baylor School girls team took first place with 130.5 points.

The Franklin County boys had a similar ranking in the group standings as their 27 points at the meet put them in seventh place out of 24 teams. McCallie claimed the top place in the boys standings with 190.25 points.

Lily Heath, Catie Hanger, Ruby Webb, Luke Kelleher and Daniel Heath will next represent Franklin County in the Section 2AAA pentathlon and decathlon at Stewarts Creek High School.

Lily Heath, Hanger and Webb will compete in the girls pentathlon on Monday while Kelleher and Daniel Heath will participate in the decathlon on Monday and Tuesday. The events on Monday are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the decathlon set to resume at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The FCHS boys and girls track and field teams will next compete on April 24 in a home meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
