SSMF
Talented young musicians from across the world are in Sewanee now through July 16 for the 66th season of the Sewanee Summer Music Festival featuring more than 30 performances of symphonic, chamber and vocal music. Many concerts are free. To reserve tickets, go to ssmf.sewanee.edu/tickets.
Preschool signup
Applications for Franklin County preschool are accepted at the Franklin County Board of Education, 215 College St., Winchester, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children must reach age 4 by Aug. 15. For information, call 931-967-0626.
Free meals for kids
All children ages 2-18 are eligible for free summer meals that can be picked up at the following locations and times: Franklin County Bridge Program, 900 S. Shepherd St., Winchester, Tuesdays through July 25 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.; Franklin County Public Library, 105 S. Porter St., Winchester, Wednesdays through July 26 from 10:30 a.m. to noon; Epiphany Mission Episcopal Church, 62 Mountain Ave. W., Sherwood, Fridays through July 28 from 10:30 a.m. to noon; St. James Midway Park Pavilion, 898 Midway Road, Sewanee, Mondays through July 24 from 10:30 a.m. to noon; and at Wings of Hope, 4340 Old Alto Hwy., Decherd Fridays through July 28 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Lynchburg Jamboree
Everyone is invited to the Lynchburg Jamboree every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. on the Lynchburg Square.
Prenatal classes
Prenatal classes will be held on July 11 and Aug. 15 at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital in Tullahoma. Classes are free, but registration is required by calling 931-393-7938.
Food distribution
The following locations offer free food to all those in need: Abundant Life Church, 3310 Cowan Hwy., Winchester, on the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m.; First Baptist Church, 218 N. Main St., Estill Springs, on the second Saturday of each month from 9-10 a.m.; First Baptist Church, 108 S. High St., Winchester, on the first Saturday of each month in February, May, August and November; Campora Resource Center, 900 S. Full Moon
Healing Project
Anyone who has experienced any type of abuse such as domestic violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking or who is struggling with mental health issues or substance abuse may attend the Full Moon Healing Project group meetings held each Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Campora Family Resource Center, 900 S. Farmers Market
The Franklin County Farmers Market is in full swing with local farmers offering their goods each Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon at 817 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester. Some vendors are also there on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 7 a.m.

Empty the shelters
The Bissell Pet Foundation has teamed up with MetLife Pet Insurance to bring an Empty the Shelters event with reduced pet-adoption fees to Animal Harbor, located at 56 Nor-Nan Road, Winchester, where adoption fees will be $50 or less from today through July 31. in the Park
Friday Nights in the Park will feature free live music on July 14 at 6 p.m. in Sewanee’s Angel Park located in the heart of Sewanee, featuring The Differents. This event is family-friendly. University Avenue will be closed to traffic.

Canoe float
Children ages 13-18 and adults are welcome to join in for an overnight canoe float and camping trip to Goose Island at Tims Ford State Park from 10 a.m. on July 14 to 2 p.m. on July 15. Cost is $40 for children and $64 for adults. For information, call 931-434-6032.

Junior Ranger Camp
A Junior Ranger Camp for 12-15-year-olds will be held July 17-21 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Nature Center inside Tims Ford State Park. Cost is $70. Call 931-434-6032.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will hold a sobriety checkpoint on July 21 at 9 p.m. at Awalt and Mansford roads.

Stuff the Bus
Everyone is urged to help with a United Way of Franklin County event, “Stuff the Bus,” on July 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walmart in Winchester. Drop off school supplies including pencils, notebook paper, backpacks, crayons and other basics to be donated to area schools. Supplies may also be dropped off any time before July 22 at the following locations: Citizens Community Bank, First Bank, First Vision Bank, Regions Bank, US Bank, V.R. Williams & Company, WCDT and WZYX.

Boating camp
The Spirit of America Youth Boating Camp will be held July 24-28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for 12-15-year-olds at the recreation hall located inside Tims Ford State Park. Students will learn water safety, receive a Tennessee boating license and experience three days of water training with multiple types of boats. Space is limited. Cost is $85.
