Ambulance stolen, driver in custody

A suspect remains in custody after allegedly stealing an ambulance, armed with a pistol, and threatening to commit suicide during a standoff Monday evening with law enforcement authorities, according to Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Reports said the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stolen ambulance in Winchester, and patrol units were notified that the vehicle was traveling east on Interstate 24.

Deputies were unable to make contact with the vehicle, but officers in Marion County were able to and stopped the ambulance on Chasey Simpson Road on an interstate overpass.

A standoff began as the driver, Cameron Seisan, was allegedly armed with a pistol and threatened to commit suicide, reports said.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department requested mutual aid from several neighboring departments, and members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with the situation, reports said, adding that Seisan was taken into custody without injury and transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga for treatment, reports said.

Seisan will face charges in Marion County when he is released from the hospital, reports said, adding that charges are pending in our county.
