Rebelettes drop district contest at Spring Hill in four sets

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Spring Hill Lady Raiders in four sets on the road Tuesday for their fifth loss of the season.

The Rebelettes lost the first two sets of the day and pulled out a close win in the third set before a loss in the fourth frame ended the match.

The Lady Raiders closed out the opening set on a 20-5 run to give Franklin County a decisive 25-10 loss to begin the match.

The Rebelettes jumped out to an earlier second set as they held a 12-7 advantage at the midway point of the frame and still held onto an 18-16 lead later in the set.

However, the Lady Raiders then scored nine straight points to take control. The Rebelettes were able to hit 20 points in the frame, but the Lady Raiders then got the last point they needed to give Franklin County a 25-20 defeat.

The Rebelettes trailed 2-0 after two sets.

The Rebelettes fell behind by a score of 13-5 to start the third set before going on a 14-6 run of their own to tie the score at 19-19.

The teams then traded the lead back and forth a few times as both reached 25 points in the set and continued further beyond.

After coming within a point of winning the set on four different occasions in the frame, the Rebelettes finally got the two consecutive points they needed for a 30-28 victory to put the overall score at 2-1.

However, the Lady Raiders led for the entire fourth set and closed out the frame with a 9-1 run to give the Rebelettes a 25-11 loss for the game and a 3-1 defeat overall.

Madisan Redmon ended the match with three aces, seven kills, one assist, three blocks and five digs for the Rebelettes.

Ann Abbott Devine had one ace, seven kills, five assists and seven digs. Hadley Gardner recorded four aces, one kill, one block and eight digs.

Madyson Dutz finished the match with eight digs, and Natalie Hagood and Ava Yates had six digs each.

Other contributors for the Rebelettes and their stats for the day included Emma Smoot with three kills, two blocks and one dig; Jessie Schnarr with three kills and one dig; Adley Smith with one ace and two assists; and Brianna Wilkinson with one kill and two blocks.

With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 2-5 on the season and 1-4 in district play.

They will next play Thursday at home against Columbia Central High School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
