FC girls soccer ties Rockvale in home matchup

The Franklin County High School girls soccer team played the Rockvale Lady Rockets to a 3-3 draw at home Tuesday for the team’s first tie of the season.
The teams traded goals throughout the contest with Franklin County finding an equalizer in the closing minutes to force a draw as the final result.
Franklin County was the first team on the board as Osiris Rodriguez scored off an assist from Caitlyn Cashion about eight minutes into the game. The goal was the ninth of the season for Rodriguez.
The Lady Rockets struck back midway through the first half as they scored two goals within five minutes of each other to flip the scoreboard.
Franklin County trailed 2-1 at halftime.
Franklin County was awarded a penalty kick about six minutes into the second half, and Valeria Gomez nailed the attempt to tie the score at 2-2. Gomez has two goals so far this season for Franklin County.
However, the Lady Rockets retook the lead on a goal with about 14 minutes left to make it a 3-2 game late.
Franklin County made a strong offensive push on the opposing goal at the end of the game in an attempt to tie the score with Cali Banks ultimately breaking through for an equalizer with about five minutes left for her sixth score of the year.
Neither team would be able to break the tie in the time remaining as the contest ultimately ended in a draw.
With the tie, Franklin County moved to 6-3-1 on the season.
The girls soccer team will next play Thursday at home against Tullahoma High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
