Rebel golfers top St. Andrew’s-Sewanee in road match

The Franklin County High School boys golf team competed in a nine-hole match Tuesday at The Course at Sewanee against the St. Andrew’s-Sewanee Mountain Lions.

The Rebel golfers ended the match with a team score of 179 which gave them a major edge over the Mountain Lions’ final mark of 209 for the day.

Chase Towry led the Rebels in scoring for the day as his mark of 39 also gave him the best individual score across both teams.

Evan Lynch finished second among all individuals with a score of 45, and Jackson Lynch followed closely behind with a mark of 46 to also help the effort for the Rebels.

Brady Hall carded a score of 49 for the match to round out the scoring portion of the standings for the Rebels.

Garrett Patterson and Easton Walker both shot scores of 50 for the day, and Brody Metcalf recorded a mark of 53 for Franklin County.

The FCHS boys and girls golf teams will next compete Wednesday in a nine-hole match at the Pebble Creek Golf Club against Lincoln County High School. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
