Local runners compete in Henry Horton meet

The cross country teams of Franklin County High School, Winchester Christian Academy and North Middle School competed in a meet Tuesday at Henry Horton State Park.

The FCHS Rebels and Rebelettes combined for six top-50 finishes at the competitive meet, including three placements within the top 25.

Owen Stewart had the best overall performance for the Rebels on the day as he finished 12th out of 254 runners in the high school boys race with a time of 18:11.

Teammate Daniel Heath crossed the finish line with a mark of 18:41 to take 25th place.

The next FCHS runner to finish the course was Josh Smith in 56th place with a time of 19:55.

Cristian Fravel and Austin Heath finished 59th and 60th, respectively, for the day with times of 19:57 and 19:58, and Jasper Henley followed seconds afterward in 62nd place with a mark of 20:02.

The remaining runners for the Rebels and their times and placements for the day were Michael Vasenko, 131st, 21:51; Kane Hawkersmith, 141st, 22:01; and Mason Phillips, 145th, 22:10.

Ruby Webb had the top time among the Rebelettes as she finished 18th out of 129 competitors in the high school girls race with a time of 22:41.

Audrey Stewart and Caitlyn Cashion finished the course within less than a second of each other in 30th and 31st place, respectively, as both were listed with final times of 23:34.

Catherine Money wasn’t too far behind in 36th place for the day with a mark of 23:41.

The remaining runners for the Rebelettes and their times and placements for the day were Calli Alonso, 65th, 25:46; Lily Heath, 67th, 25:52; Aahna Carter, 72nd, 26:11; and Addy Hannaway, 94th, 28:59.

The WCA Lady Lions had two competitors in the high school girls race with Billie Rose Johnson recording the better time of the two in 55th place with a mark of 24:57. Sadie Wells took 59th for the race with a time of 25:18.

Wyatt Reed was the lone WCA representative in the high school boys race as he placed 155th for the event with a mark of 22:31.

In the middle school races, the WCA Lions had three runners place in the top 50 of the boys race.

Luke Garland had the top time among them as he completed the course in 13:49 to finish 22nd out of 151 runners.

Levi Karl raced to a 42nd-place finish with a time of 14:30, and Miles Felton followed in 44th place with a time of 14:37.

The remaining runners for the middle school Lions and their times and placements for the day were Nolan Curtis, 69th, 15:14; Cooper Franklin, 102nd, 16:38; Nathan Jaccard, 116th, 17:30; and Lane Blevins, 133rd, 19:28.

Annie Wells also cracked the top 50 in the middle school girls race for the Lady Lions as she placed 48th out of 89 with a time of 18:19.

Other runners for the Lady Lions and their times and placements for the day included Elise Horton, 76th, 20:50; Audrey Glenn, 82nd, 22:42; and Maddy Wiley, 85th, 23:18.

There were three runners for the North Gators in the middle school boys race with Leevi Jones racing into the top 50 in 49th place with a mark of 14:46.

William Oglesby finished 98th for the day with a time of 16:32, and Ben Stewart took 106th place with a mark of 16:46.

Maddy Phillips was the lone representative for the Gatorettes in the middle school girls race as she placed 54th for the meet with a time of 18:42.

The FCHS, WCA high school and North cross country teams will next compete Saturday in the Mountain Lion Invitational at St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

The WCA middle school cross country teams will next compete Saturday in the Section 3A meet at Buckner Park. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
