Commodity distribution
A drive-thru commodity food distribution will be held for Franklin County residents only today from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion, 1041 Wilton Circle, Winchester.
Town hall
The Franklin County School District will host a town hall meeting with Director of Schools Dr. Cary Holman tonight at 5:30 p.m. at North Middle School.

Greens Cemetery

The annual meeting of Greens Cemetery in Faris Chapel will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. No meal will be served. All are urged to attend.
Pool pawty
Manchester Parks and Recreation welcomes all dogs to their doggy pool pawty Saturday from 2-3 p.m. Cost is $5 per dog.
Wildflower walk
The Sewanee Herbarium invites everyone to explore the Meadow Trail at the South Cumberland State Park Visitor’s Center on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. with guide Yolande Gottfried. This is a one-hour, easy walk. Meet at the kiosk to the right of the Visitor’s Center. Tickbush Festival
The St. James Midway Community Park, 898 Midway Road, Sewanee, is hosting a Tickbush Festival Saturday from 2-7 p.m. featuring bluegrass and Gospel music, food trucks and arts and crafts.
Fish fry
A fish-fry fundraiser will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Decherd Masonic Lodge #567, located at 101 Mary Sharp Dr., Decherd. Cost is $15 per person.
Starry nights
Everyone is invited to join in to celebrate International Astronomy Day Saturday featuring a free star-gazing party from 4-9 p.m. at the University of Tennessee Space Institute, 411 B.H. Overnight canoe float
Join in for an overnight canoe float trip on Tims Ford Lake starting from Lakeview Marina inside Tims Ford State Park and paddling about five miles to Goose Island to camp. Age limit is 13. One Day of Hope
Manchester’s annual One Day of Hope will be held on Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coffee County Fairgrounds, 99 Lakeview Dr., Manchester. The event is free for families in need. Services include free groceries, haircuts, clothing, prayer, job and career services, lunches, free family portraits, medical and dental screenings, community services and a kids’ zone.

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System’s sixth annual breast Cancer Awareness Month breakfast event, Cheers for the Girls, will be held on Oct. 12, at 8:30 a.m. at the Honeysuckle at Twin Creeks with local breast cancer survivor Megan Hershman sharing her inspiring testimony. The 0.8 mile-walk ends at Franklin County Library at 12:30 p.m. with demonstrations and presentations through 4 p.m. Cherokee storyteller Bo Tayler will share stories at 1:30 p.m. The library will be open for extended hours.
Botanical art
Everyone is invited to produce a botanically-correct painting of a leaf by transferring a rubbing of it to watercolor paper. Materials will be provided for this free activity, which is suited for all ages. Meet in Spencer Hall, Room 171 at the University of the South in Sewanee.
