Freeman represents Huntland at regional golf tourney
Huntland High School golfer Lucas Freeman competed in the Region 6A tournament Friday at the Henry Horton Golf Course.
The top team in the tournament and the top three individuals outside of that qualifying team received berths to the Class A state tournament with Freeman, a freshman, not being able to claim one of those individual spots.
Freeman recorded a score of 98 across his 18 holes for the tournament, leaving him in a three-way tie with Eagleville’s Jaden Garland and Moore County’s Jace Long for 27th place out of 39 individuals on the boys side.
Freeman finished 17 strokes behind Hickman County’s Dane Gilbert for the third and final state-qualifying spot for individual boys.
The other two boys golfers who received individual berths for the Class A state tournament were Fairview’s Matthew Coleman with a score of 78 and Summertown’s Cole Campbell with a mark of 80.
Mt. Pleasant would claim the team berth for the state tournament on the boys side, edging out Summertown by a 342-346 margin.
The Region 6A tournament marked the end of the season for the Huntland High School boys golf team.
