Fall Festival

Tims Ford State Park’s Fall Festival will be held on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Tims Ford State Park featuring hay rides, programs, food and craft vendors and more. For information, call 931-434-6032.

Overnight canoe float

Join in for an overnight canoe float trip on Saturday at Tims Ford Lake starting from Lakeview Marina inside Tims Ford State Park and paddling about five miles to Goose Island to camp. One Day of Hope

Manchester’s annual One Day of Hope will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coffee County Fairgrounds, 99 Lakeview Dr., Manchester. The event is free for families in need. Services include free groceries, haircuts, clothing, prayer, job and career services, lunches, free family portraits, medical and dental screenings, community services and a kids’ zone.

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System’s sixth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month breakfast event, Cheers for the Girls, will be held on Oct. 12 at 8:30 a.m. at the Honeysuckle at Twin Creeks with local breast cancer survivor Megan Hershman sharing her inspiring testimony. Cruisin’ for the Vets

American Patriot VFW Post 1893 Woods Reservoir will host its second annual Cruisin’ for the Vets Car, Truck and Bike Show on Oct. 14 (rain date Oct. 15) with registration starting at 9 a.m. at Winchester City Park located on Highway 130. Registration for vehicles or bikes is $15 ($10 for second). Dash plaques will be presented to the first 50 vehicles and 25 bikes with all makes and models welcome. Fish fry

A fish-fry fundraiser will be held on Oct. 14 from 1-5 p.m. at the Broadview Volunteer Fire Department, 5253 Lynchburg Road, Winchester. A Trail of Tears Commemorative Walk will be held on Oct. 28 starting at 11:30 a.m. at Old Cowan Road Park, 200 Wilson Street in Winchester. The 0.8-mile-walk ends at the Franklin County Library at 12:30 p.m. with demonstrations and presentations through 4 p.m. Cherokee storyteller Bo Tayler will share stories at 1:30 p.m. The library will be open for extended hours.

Botanical art

Everyone is invited to produce a botanically-correct painting of a leaf by transferring a rubbing of it to watercolor paper. Materials will be provided for this free activity which is suited for all ages. Meet in Spencer Hall, Room 171 at the University of the South in Sewanee.

Chili cook-off

Animal Harbor Goes Hollywood

Everyone is invited to dress as a favorite movie character and join in for a star-studded fundraising night, “Animal Harbor Goes Hollywood,” on Nov. 4 from 6-9 p.m. at Monterey Station in Cowan. Activities include an exclusive cigar-and-whiskey porch, red-carpet photos, DJ music through the decades, swing-dance demonstrations and fancy food stations. Cost is $65 each, $85 with a T-shirt, $130 for couples, $170 for couples and two T-shirts. VIP tables are $550 for eight tickets and a VIP experience. Proceeds go to Animal Harbor’s mission.

SBCO charitable event
