Cheers for the Girls
Southern Tennessee Regional Health System’s sixth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month breakfast event, Cheers for the Girls, will be held today at 8:30 a.m. at the Honeysuckle at Twin Creeks with local breast cancer survivor Megan Hershman sharing her inspiring testimony. Cheers for the Girls T-shirts are available to purchase at Treasures, located at 1307 Dinah Shore Blvd. in Winchester, with proceeds benefiting the Multi-County Cancer Support Network. Cruisin’ for the Vets
American Patriot VFW Post 1893 Woods Reservoir will host its second annual Cruisin’ for the Vets Car, Truck and Bike Show on Saturday (rain date Sunday) with registration starting at 9 a.m. at Winchester City Park located on Highway 130. Registration for vehicles or bikes is $15 ($10 for second). Dash plaques will be presented to the first 50 vehicles and 25 bikes with all makes and models welcome. Fish fry
A fish-fry fundraiser will be held on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. at the Broadview Volunteer Fire Department, 5253 Lynchburg Road, Winchester. Plates include fish, fries, chicken, beans, slaw, hush puppies, dessert and drink. Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and younger. A 50/50 raffle drawing will be held with tickets for $5 each or five for $20.
Class of 1965 reunion
The Franklin County High School Class of 1965 will hold a class reunion on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Franklin County Country Club in Winchester. Visit with classmates and enjoy lunch as well as a special program. Cost is $40 per person. Octoberfest

Disabled American Veterans Chapter #71 (Franklin County and beyond) will meet on Tuesday at the VFW building on AEDC Road in Estill Springs. AngelFest Celebration
The Sewanee Business Alliance and the University of the South welcome everyone to their AngelFest Celebration on Oct. 20 at Angel Park in Sewanee to welcome the University’s new vice chancellor, Rob Pearigen. Children’s activities begin at 5 p.m. followed by a performance by the band Entice at 7 p.m. Food trucks will offer a wide selection of cuisine. University Avenue will be temporarily closed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. Shuttle services will be offered.

Turkey Trot
The Hospice 5K Turkey Trot and One-Mile Fun Run will be held on Oct. 21 at Tims Ford State Park. Check in at 7:30 a.m. at the visitor center. Fish fry
The Belvidere firemen’s fish fry will be held on Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Belvidere Community Center, 349 Belvidere Road in Belvidere. Enjoy live bluegrass music. Enjoy all-you-can-eat fish, barbecue chicken, chicken strips, homemade desserts and sides. Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for ages 4-12 and free for children younger than 4. A tractor pull will be held free at the same location starting at noon.

Trail of Tears walk
A Trail of Tears Commemorative Walk will be held on Oct. 28 starting at 11:30 a.m. at Old Cowan Road Park, 200 Wilson Street in Winchester. The 0.8-mile-walk ends at the Franklin County Library at 12:30 p.m. with demonstrations and presentations through 4 p.m. Cherokee storyteller Bo Tayler will share stories at 1:30 p.m. The library will be open for extended hours.
Botanical art
Everyone is invited to produce a botanically-correct painting of a leaf by transferring a rubbing of it to watercolor paper. Materials will be provided for this free activity which is suited for all ages. Meet in Spencer Hall, Room 171 at the University of the South in Sewanee.
Chili cook-off
