LENN AMACHER

AMACHER, Lenn Jay, passed from his earthly body to his heavenly reward on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, eleven days short of his 87th birthday. Lenn loved playing Rook, dominoes, poker and any game that required strategy. In his early years he enjoyed trail riding on both horseback and motorcycles, which included climbing the steepest hills his motorcycle could handle and some it could not.  In their retirement, Lenn and Carolyn loved traveling in their motorhome and were able to enjoy many trips with family and friends. His dream trip was taking his sons and grandsons on a deep-sea fishing trip in the Florida panhandle. Grandmother traveled with them to make sure no one fell overboard. His life’s work was construction and installing water lines and sewer lines in many of our small towns all over the south. Many evenings after work he would install septic systems for individual homes. He would always grow a garden that would feed the family and many neighbors. Lenn was born on Oct. 24, 1936, on Amacher Road in Belvidere, Tennessee, to the late Charles Gordon Amacher and Hattie Stovall Amacher. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Ann Tipps on June 18, 1955. They spent their childhood on Cline Ridge in the Harmony community and attended the little, two-room school. In his youth the school system hired him to arrive at school early to stoke the fire and in the afternoon bank it to hold the fire overnight. This was the beginning of his many years of learning to work hard. Lenn was a lifelong Cumberland Presbyterian with his membership at the Winchester CP Church. He loved the Lord and would share with everyone that he has lived a “blessed life.”  He was a member of the Sons of Belvidere Men’s Group, Johnny’s Place, Men’s CP Fellowship and the Highland Rim Emmaus Community. He was an outstanding cook and loved fellowship over a good meal. We need not forget his homemade peach and strawberry ice cream that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. He was an Atlanta Braves, Nashville Predators and Tennessee Vols fan, but there was nothing he loved more than watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their local sports activities. Lenn was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Margaret Amacher Tucker; brothers, Kenneth Amacher, Leon Amacher, Earl Amacher and is survived by his younger brother, Ted Amacher. They loved each other so much and would tell so many good stories about growing up and the pranks they would play on each other and their friends. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Carolyn Ann Tipps Amacher; his daughter, Fayna Lynn Amacher Edens; his sons, Jeffrey Jay Amacher (Jeannie), Danny Scott Amacher (Ruby Lovett) and Randall Wade Amacher (Christy), all of Winchester; 12 grandchildren, Joseph J. Edens (Heather), Emily Ann Edens Williams (Chris), Katherine Marie Amacher Bradley (Jared), Leslie Anna Amacher Fogo (Jimbo), Jonathan Jay Amacher (Hannah), Michael Jeffrey Amacher (Hannah), Scott Patrick Amacher (Katy), Anna Marie Amacher Garland (Corey), James Lenn Amacher, Andrew Burton Amacher (Gracie), Jaylen Ryan Amacher and Trey Elijah Amacher; and 17 great-grandchildren. Lenn lost his vision suddenly in July of this year and his biggest regret was that he could no longer see his great-grandchildren, the youngest being born after the loss of his sight. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, six sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Services were conducted on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Moore Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Caleb Norris officiating. Interment was at Franklin Memorial Gardens. His eight grandsons served as pallbearers. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of Lenn Amacher to the Nathan Kreidenweis Youth Memorial Fund established at Citizens Tri-County Bank, 2030 Decherd Blvd., Decherd, TN 37324. We want to continue Nathan’s desire to help young people in need. The family wishes to thank Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice for their special care of our daddy.
