Middle school Hornets take close loss at Fayetteville

The Huntland Middle School Hornets lost to the Fayetteville Tigers 46-41 on the road Thursday for their fourth loss of the season.
The score was kept close throughout with the Tigers ultimately taking control of the scoreboard in the fourth quarter to give the Hornets a loss.
Both teams got off to strong starts on offense with the Hornets staking themselves to a slight early lead.
They led 13-12 after one quarter.
The Tigers flipped the scoreboard in the second quarter with the Hornets remaining just one possession behind overall.
Huntland trailed 23-21 at halftime.
The teams traded baskets throughout the third quarter, and the score was tied at 31-31 going into the final period.
The Tigers closed out the game with their best offensive period as the Hornets fell behind and ultimately lost by five points. Bryant Mooney scored 19 of Huntland’s 20 points in the second half.
Mooney led the Hornets with 30 points for the game, followed by Micah Tipps with four points and Davis Keith with three.
Adon Bass and Evan Goode scored two points each.
With the loss, the Hornets moved to 4-4 on the season.
They will next play Tuesday at home against Community Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
