The South Middle School Lady Trojans lost to the Harris Eaglettes 41-23 at home Monday for their fifth loss of the season.

The Lady Trojans trailed for the entire contest and were outscored in each quarter as the Eaglettes steadily pulled away from them throughout the day.

The Eaglettes scored the first five points of the contest to put the Lady Trojans in a slight hole early. Zoe Cole scored three of South’s four points in the first quarter.

South trailed 7-4 after one quarter.

The Lady Trojans remained a step behind throughout most of the second quarter with the Eaglettes ending the half on a 7-1 run to push their advantage up to a new high. Chloe Cole scored four of South’s seven points in the second quarter.

The Lady Trojans trailed 20-11 at halftime.

The deficit grew to double digits early in the third quarter and would remain there for the rest of the day. Zoe Cole scored five of South’s seven points in the third quarter.

South trailed 33-18 going into the final period.

The Lady Trojans weren’t able to produce enough points in the fourth quarter to get back into the game as they lost by 18.

Zoe Cole led the Lady Trojans with 10 points for the game, followed by Chloe Cole with six points and Victoria Latham with four.

Khylee Speich scored three points.

With the loss, the Lady Trojans moved to 2-5 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at West Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
