Suspect held in rape case

A 55 year-old Winchester man remains in Franklin County Jail on a $200,000 bond after being charged in connection with an April 4 kidnapping and rape incident.

Sheriff’s Office reports identified the man as Joey Allen Eavey.

Reports said that, in addition to being charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and rape, Eavey is also charged with aggravated assault and aggravated burglary.

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 10. Reports said that a man had gone to a residence at about 8 p.m. on April 4, entered the property through a side door and then began yelling at a woman who had just gotten out of the shower. He ordered the woman to go outside and get her belongings out of his vehicle, reports added.

Reports said when they got to the vehicle, the man grabbed her by her arm and made her get into the vehicle and drive him to a man’s house where he had been staying. Reports added that when they arrived, the man began screaming at her about their recent breakup and became physical with her.

Reports said that at one point, he placed his hand around her neck and started choking her to where she started to lose her breath and began coughing.

The woman told authorities that he also grabbed her by the hair and made her perform sexual actions and later threatened to assault another man the woman was involved with, reports said.

Reports said that after the sexual assault, the man told the woman to get out of the car they were in. The woman told authorities that she jumped out of the vehicle, was able to hide in some bushes and called the other man to come and get her, reports said.

Reports said that the other man found her walking down Bible Crossing Road in the pouring rain when he went to pick her up.
