FC track teams finish second in home meet

The Franklin County High School boys and girls track and field teams hosted a meet Saturday and recorded 44 total top-five finishes for the day.

The high placements for Franklin County included six first-place performances and 28 top-three finishes.

One of the highlights of the meet came in the boys high jump as Brandon Walker cleared the bar at 6 feet, 8 inches to break his own school record for the event. He had set the record at 6 feet, 6 inches on March 21 in a meet at Riverdale High School.

In the group standings, the Franklin County girls finished second out of seven teams with 144 points for the day.

The Franklin County boys also recorded a secondplace finish as a group with 167 points in a field of five teams.

Riverdale finished on top of the boys and girls standings for the day with 265 and 205 points, respectively.
