Rebelettes win twice at home; fall at Giles

The Franklin County Rebelettes beat the Battle Creek Lady Grizzlies 11-1 at home Friday for their 14th win of the season.
The Rebelettes scored at least one run in every inning of the contest as they steadily pulled away for a blowout victory.
Franklin County head softball coach Kelly Kennedy said that her players did a good job of bouncing back quickly from a district loss the day before.
“When you lose, you’ve got to flush it, and you’ve got to set your sights to the next day. I think they did a good job of that,” she said before referring to her team’s 5-2 record since the start of the month. “Our motto has just been, ‘Roll through April.’ They should be playing the best ball of the season right now, getting prepared for the district tournament. I think they’re showing those highlights and that they’re a team that can get the job done.”
The Lady Grizzlies scored a run in the top of the first to take an early lead, but a solo home run from Kyleigh DeCamp in the bottom of the first tied the score at 1-1.
The Rebelettes then took the lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run from Leah Hardison to make it a 3-1 game.
The deficit expanded to 6-1 in the bottom of the third as Addison Partin laid down a bunt which rolled perfectly between second and third base for an RBI double, and Kaitlyn Montgomery followed with a two-run home run of her own in the frame.
The Rebelettes recorded three straight singles to start the bottom of the fourth as hits from Alex Hand and Bella Smith were followed by an RBI single from DeCamp to push the lead up to 7-1.
The Rebelettes ended the game early via the mercy rule with a fourrun fifth inning as Hardison scored off of a wild pitch, DeCamp hit an RBI infield single, Victoria Nelson drew a bases- loaded walk, and Isabella Gilliam recorded a sacrifice fly to clinch a 10-run victory.
Smith pitched the first four innings for the Rebelettes with three strikeouts, three hits and one run allowed for the day.
Nelson pitched one scoreless, hitless inning in relief.
With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 1412 on the season.
Giles County 3, Rebelettes 1
The Rebelettes lost to the Giles County Lady Bobcats 3-1 on the road on April 9 for their 12th loss of the season.
The Rebelettes fell behind early and were held scoreless until the seventh inning of the contest as the loss moved their district record for the season back down to .500.
The first five batters for the Lady Bobcats in the bottom of the first reached base with two of them being brought around to score to make it a 2-0 game.
Partin hit a one-out single for the Rebelettes in the top of the second for one of their two hits in the game, but she was unable to advance past first base before the inning concluded.
A two-out error from the Rebelettes in the bottom of the third allowed another run to score for Giles County to increase the early deficit to 3-0.
Montgomery drew a leadoff walk for the Rebelettes in the top of the seventh and advanced to second base on a groundout from Partin.
Mollye Casey recorded a two-out RBI single a few batters later to drive in Montgomery and bring the potential tying run up to bat, but a flyout then ended the contest as the Rebelettes lost by two.
Dalayna Marshall pitched the first 4 1-3 innings for the Rebelettes with one strikeout, seven hits, one walk, one earned run and two unearned runs allowed for the day.
Nelson pitched 1 2-3 scoreless innings in relief with one strikeout and one hit allowed.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 13-12 on the season and 3-3 in district play.
Rebelettes 14, Marion County 3
The Rebelettes beat the Marion County Lady Warriors 14-3 at home on April 6 for their 13th win of the season.
The Rebelettes built up a big lead early in the contest and fully pulled away in the bottom of the sixth as they recorded their third straight victory.
The Lady Warriors were the first team on the board as a leadoff single and a two-run home run in the top of the first made it a 2-0 game.
However, the Rebelettes quickly jumped ahead in the bottom of the first as Smith recorded a leadoff home run, Montgomery hit a sacrifice fly to drive in DeCamp from third base, and Hadley Jolley scored off of an error on a ball hit by Casey to make it a 3-2 game.
A two-out RBI single from DeCamp in the bottom of the second expanded the early lead to 4-2.
The Rebelettes then scored five more runs in the bottom of the third as Nelson hit an RBI single, Casey scored off of an error on a ball hit by Hand, and Smith launched a three-run home run to center field to push the overall deficit up to 9-2.
The Lady Warriors got one of those runs back in the top of the fifth as a sacrifice fly cut the lead down to 9-3 in the frame.
The Rebelettes put the game out of reach with a five-run sixth inning as DeCamp hit an RBI single, Montgomery recorded an RBI fielder’s choice, Partin drew a bases-loaded walk, and Nelson hit a tworun single to trigger the mercy rule as the Rebelettes won by 11.
Smith pitched the first five innings for the Rebelettes with five strikeouts, four hits, one walk and three runs allowed.
Nelson pitched one scoreless inning in relief with no hits or walks allowed.
