Franklin County head baseball coach Mike Crossland said that his team’s performance in the last few games has not lived up to his expectations with the Rebels seemingly straying away from the aggressive playstyle that led them to success early in the season.
“Now we’re just kind of playing back on our heels waiting to see what happens instead of attacking every phase of the game: pitching, defense and at the plate,” he said. “Until we get back to playing our style of baseball, which is attacking every aspect, we’re going to be up and down.”
The Falcons scored their first run of the day in the bottom of the second off of a two-out RBI single, and they scored four more runs in the bottom of the third to make it a 5-0 game early.

However, the Falcons went on to score three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to push the deficit up to 9-2 going into the final inning.
The Rebels loaded the bases again in the top of the seventh as Ethan Stoltzfus hit a double, Jones drew a walk and Gus Gardner singled with one out in the frame, but a strikeout and a fielder’s choice then ended the contest as the Rebels lost by seven.

However, the Rockets responded quickly as a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the first tied the game at 2-2.
With two outs and only one runner on base in the bottom of the second, the Rockets drew three consecutive walks to allow the lead runner to score, and their next batter hit a grand-slam home run to put the Rebels in a 7-2 hole.
The Rebels loaded the bases with only one out in the top of the sixth as McBee, Jones and Hodosi each recorded singles in the frame. However, a pair of flyouts then ended the inning and stranded all three runners.

The Rockets scored the first run of the day as a two-out RBI single gave them a 1-0 edge in the top of the first.
However, the Rebels answered back quickly as Avery Jackson came through with a two-out RBI single of his own in the bottom of the first to tie the score at 1-1.
The Rebels took the lead in the bottom of the fifth as an RBI single from Jones and a two-run single from Hodosi put the overall score at 4-1 late.
