Rebelettes take close home loss to Tullahoma

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Tullahoma Lady Wildcats 5-4 at home on April 23 for their 15th loss of the season.
The Rebelettes trailed for the entire district contest with a seventh- inning rally coming up just short to give them a narrow defeat.
The first two batters for Tullahoma in the top of the first reached base on a walk and an infield single, respectively, with both of them later being brought around to score on RBI groundouts to make it a 2-0 game.
The Lady Wildcats scored another run in the top of the second to put the Rebelettes in a 3-0 hole early.
The Rebelettes made up some ground in the bottom of the fourth as Dalayna Marshall hit into an RBI fielder’s choice to drive in Kaitlyn Montgomery from third base, and Victoria Nelson hit an RBI double a few pitches later to cut the deficit down to 3-2.
However, the Lady Wildcats scored one run each in the fifth and seventh innings to bring their advantage back up to 5-2.
Nelson led off the bottom of the seventh with a double and was brought around to score off of an error following a bunt single from Alex Hand on the next pitch.
Avari Rice replaced Hand on the basepaths as a pinch-runner and was driven home a few batters later by a sacrifice fly from Kyleigh DeCamp to make it a 5-4 game with two outs in the inning.
Leah Hardison then reached base on an error, and Montgomery was intentionally walked to put the potential tying and go-ahead runs on base.
A groundball from Addison Partin initially appeared to stay fair down the third-base line as both teams, and the umpire on the basepaths played it out as if it were a hit with Hardison scoring off of obstruction, but when the play had ended, the home plate umpire revealed that he had called the ball foul from the start. Partin struck out a few pitches later to end the contest and give the Rebelettes a one-run loss.
Marshall pitched the first 6 1-3 innings for the Rebelettes with one strikeout, nine hits, three walks and five runs allowed.
Nelson recorded two outs in relief with no hits or runs allowed.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 15-15 on the season and 3-5 in district play.

The Rebelettes took an early lead and steadily built up their advantage throughout the contest to move their record for the season back above .500.
The first run of the game was scored in the bottom of the second as Addilyn Carter hit a solo home run to left field to give Franklin County a 1-0 advantage. An RBI single from DeCamp and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Hadley Jolley drove in one run each in the bottom of the third to make it a 3-0 game.
After a scoreless fourth inning, the Rebelettes scored again in the bottom of the fifth off of a solo home run from DeCamp, and an RBI single from Partin in the bottom of the sixth brought the lead up to 5-0 late.
The Warriorettes were held off the board in the top of the seventh to seal the shutout victory for Franklin County.

The Lady Pioneers scored a pair of runs in the top of the third to break an early scoreless tie, and they scored two more runs in the top of the fifth to push the deficit up to 4-0.
The Rebelettes made up some ground in the bottom of the fifth as Carter scored off of an error on a bunt laid down by Smith, and Jolley and Kaitlyn Montgomery hit RBI singles to make it a 4-3 game.
However, the Pioneers went on to score three more runs in the top of the seventh to put the Rebelettes in a 7-3 hole in the final inning.
DeCamp led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, but the Rebelettes weren’t able to produce any additional baserunners in the frame as they lost by four.
