The Franklin County Rebelettes beat the Marion County Lady Warriors 11-9 on the road Saturday for their fourth win of the season.

The Rebelettes jumped out to an early lead with the assistance of multiple home runs and held off a late rally from the Lady Warriors to pick up the narrow victory.

Emma Owens and Carissa Montgomery led off the game with back-to-back home runs to give the Rebelettes an immediate 2-0 advantage.

Kaitlyn Montgomery added an RBI double later in the top of the first and came around to score off of an error on a ball hit by Alyssa Sherrill to make it a 4-0 game.

Pitcher Miley DeSmet helped her own cause in the top of the second as she hit a solo home run to bring the early lead up to 5-0.

The Lady Warriors got on the board with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, but the Rebelettes answered back with four runs in the top of the fourth.

The scoring in the fourth inning started with an RBI single by Carissa Montgomery, followed by Jocilyn DeSmet hitting an RBI double, Kaitlyn Montgomery contributing an RBI single and Sherrill reaching base on an error which also scored Kaitlyn Montgomery to put the score at 9-2.

The Lady Warriors scored another two runs in the bottom of the fourth to make up a little bit of ground and make it a 9-4 game as the contest passed its midway point.

Owens collected her second RBI for the day in the top of the fifth as she hit an RBI single to grow the deficit to 10-4.

The Lady Warriors began to display their own power as a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth cut into the lead. The Lady Warriors scored another three runs in the bottom of the sixth as an RBI groundout and another two-run home run made it a one-run game going into the final inning.

However, the Rebelettes gave themselves a little breathing room in the top of the seventh as Kaylee Morris hit a sacrifice fly to bring the lead up to 11-9.

The Lady Warriors put runners at the corners with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Morris induced a groundout to strand both runners and clinch the win by two.

Miley DeSmet pitched the first 5 2-3 innings for the Rebelettes with one strikeout, eight hits and nine runs allowed.

Morris closed out the last 1 1-3 innings in relief with one hit and no runs allowed.

With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 4-18 on the season.

They will next play Tuesday at Warren County High School. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
