Sewanee swimmers take part in TISCA state meet

Five members of the St. Andrew’s-Sewanee swim team competed in the Tennessee Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association’s state meet Friday and Saturday at the University of Tennessee.

The Sewanee swimmers combined for six top-50 finishes at the competitive meet, including an 11th-place finish by junior Jackson Frazier in the boys 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday.

Jackson Frazier qualified for the consolation heat in the breaststroke after finishing ninth in the preliminary round with a time of 57.9 seconds earlier in the day. He followed that with a time of 58.18 in the finals as he took third place in the heat and 11th overall for the event.

Jackson Frazier also competed in the boys 200-yard individual medley Friday and finished 24th out of 78 swimmers with a time of 2:00.66.

The relay team of Loulie Frazier, Reese Michaels, Sienna Barry and Sarah Leonard competed in two events for the weekend and took top-30 finishes in both.

They finished 30th out of 42 teams in the girls 200-yard medley relay Friday with a time of 2:03.82 and 27th out of 28 in the girls 400-yard freestyle relay Saturday with a mark of 4:08.17

Leonard also competed in a pair of individual events as she finished 33rd out of 66 in the girls 100-yard butterfly Friday with a time of 1:03.35 and 38th out of 60 in the girls 500-yard freestyle Saturday with a mark of 5:41.27.

Loulie Frazier rounded out the individual performances for St. Andrew’s-Sewanee as she finished 63rd out of 70 in the girls 100-yard backstroke Saturday with a time of 1:06.49.

The state meet marked the conclusion of the season for the SAS swim teams.
