FC Middle Rebelettes rout Westwood in home contest

The Franklin County Middle Rebelettes beat the Westwood Lady Rockets 9-0 at home Monday for their third win of the season.

The Rebelettes put up five goals in the first half and got the last four scores they needed to trigger the mercy rule in the first 13 minutes of the second half to seal the blowout victory.

Payton Dearing got the first goal of the day about four minutes into the game as she received a cross from Keren Quintanilla and knocked the ball into the net for her second goal of the season.

Molly Moore added to the lead about five minutes later as she scored off an assist from Dearing to make it a 2-0 game.

The Rebelettes began to pull away with about 13 minutes remaining in the first half when Vivian Baggett scored off a pass from Moore for her third goal of the season, and Lilah Banks recorded a goal less than two minutes later off an assist from Baggett to put the early lead at 4-0.

Banks struck for another goal with seven minutes left in the half after receiving a pass from Grace Glick. Banks has five goals on the season for the Rebelettes.

They led 5-0 at halftime.

The Rebelettes picked up where they left off in the second half as Moore fired a shot into the net off an assist from Dearing less than five minutes into the period.

Hadley Jolley was the next Franklin County player to score with Moore providing the assist for Jolley’s fourth goal of the year about seven minutes into the second half.

Glick brought the lead up to 8-0 with 18 minutes remaining in the contest as she redirected a corner kick from Moore into the net for her first goal of the season.

Moore wrapped up the contest about a minute later as she found the net with a long shot for her third goal of the day and her seventh of the season overall.

With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 3-1 on the season.

They will next play Friday at Tullahoma Middle School. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
