Rebelettes take home loss to Grundy County

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Grundy County Lady Jackets 54-48 at home Monday for their first loss of the season.

The Rebelettes trailed for the entire contest as they weren’t able to make up much ground after falling behind by multiple possessions in the first quarter.

The Lady Jackets started the game with an 11-4 run behind multiple 3-pointers to put the Rebelettes in a decent hole early.

Franklin County trailed 18-10 after one quarter.

The deficit remained steady throughout most of the second quarter with the Lady Jackets taking a double-digit advantage into the halftime break.

Franklin County trailed 31-21 at halftime.

The Rebelettes made up a small amount of ground in the third quarter as they went into the final period trailing by a score of 44-37.

The deficit stayed at five points or more throughout the fourth quarter as the Rebelettes ran out of time before they could get any closer in the six-point loss. Gracen Baggett scored 19 of Franklin County’s 27 points in the second half.

Baggett led the Rebelettes with 24 points for the game, followed by Malloree May with nine points and Hannah Campbell with eight.

Danica Stovall scored four points and Aahna Carter scored three.

With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 2-1 on the season.

They will next play on Nov. 28 at home against Warren County High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
