JOE GREEN

GREEN, Joe, age 79, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sewanee to the late Columbus and Sallie Jacobs Green on April 24, 1946. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Colston; brothers, Herman and James Green; and sisters, Martha Gilliam, Sarah McGregor, Mary Green, Barbara Byers and Katherine “Tootsie” Owenby. Joe was a true cowboy. He loved to ride horses and go camping. He played many sports, including playing baseball for Mountain Valley in Monteagle. He was a hard worker and worked for the Franklin County Highway Department for 35 years before he retired. He is survived by his best friend of 25 years, Donna Green; children, Debbie Colston, EddieGreenandBladeGreen; grandson, Kyle Colston; great-grandchildren, Kyla Colston and Chanten Colston; brother, John (Bonnie) Green; sister, Susie (Sam) Kilgore; special family, Josh (Carla) Green, Erik (Britney) Green, Carmen Green, Josie Green, Ellie Green and Nick Thompson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle TN, with John Jacobs officiating. Burial followed at Harrison Cemetery.
